How I Work

As mentioned in the ‘about me’ section my training is integrative so I draw on a range of theories to underpin the interventions used within my counselling, the course I studied most recently was predominantly based around Petruska Clarkson’s 5 relational model and this informs my work heavily and I feel strongly that the therapeutic relationship is the bedrock to meaningful working relationships and change.

I work both short term and long term depending on the wishes of the person and this informs the most appropriate modalities and interventions to draw on within our time together.

I am a Humanistic Counsellor but I draw on Psychodynamic and Attachment theories to support my integration.

I have studied psychology and sociology extensively for more than 20 years and still have a real passion for understanding people and societies more. I am often undertaking CPD, listening to podcasts, reading books and trying to stay abreast of an exciting and ever changing sector.

Recent CPD has included support for Childhood Sexual Abuse, Suicide prevention, Child Bereavement.

I work in a trauma informed way and undertake all CPD with trauma informed providers.

I am a registered BACP member since 2017 and work in accordance with the BACP ethical framework, as well as following their guidance for clinical supervision, personal therapy and CPD. I am fully insured.
